_STROBOSCOPIC ARTEFACTS

Stroboscopic Artefacts is the type of record label that can be compared favorably to respected catalysts like Warp and Basic Channel. While SA’s releases certainly do share some of the same sonic DNA as those imprints (e.g. the Warp-like concept of sound as non-orthogonal architecture, or a Basic Channel-esque romancing of spatiality and depth), it is the similarity in attitude which makes SA a reliable torchbearer those organizations’ efforts.

_LUCY Lucy (née Luca Mortellaro) is one of the pre-eminent sonic adventurers of their time. Not bound to conventional pre-conceptions of what an electronic musician, producer, or DJ must be, Lucy has evolved their distinct sound signature by reconciling the deeply personal with the esoteric, and by harmonizing the spheres of technology and biology. In doing so, they have become rare as an artist, in their ability to please an audience while also introducing them to elements they were not yet familiar with and thereby pushing them out of their comfort zone.

After founding the Stroboscopic Artefacts record label back in 2009, they have provided a consistently intriguing forum for other artists who share this unique aesthetic sensibility and high level of quality control (some of the notable contributors to the label include Luke Slater, Speedy J, James Ruskin, Donato Dozzy, Ben Klock, Perc, Kangding Ray, Rrose and Paula Temple). The label’s focus on thematic series of releases has helped define it as a label whose output becomes more diverse and engaging especially when it challenges itself to work within certain self-imposed boundaries. In 2019/2020 Lucy curated an incredibly articulated ten years annyversary of the label with acclaimed releases (‘X – Ten Years Of Artefacts) and label showcases worldwide, boldly confirming Stroboscopic Artefacts raison d’être: a continual redefinition of modern techno.

_WANTON WITCH Born in an isolated community of Borneo Island in 1993 Wanton Witch is a DJ and producer with a hyper-sensitive connection and approach to sound through performance. Coming of age in the relative isolation of island life, it wasn’t until relocating to Bangkok that she was able to access the different communities of musical genres that she would later travel between. With an early taste for trap and hip hop, she began working in the deconstructed club and techno scene where she found her musical voice, beginning her DJ career in 2018. Wanton is also a cofounder and original member of Queer underground creative collective ‘Non Non Non’ that has become a Bangkok nightlife staple.

_EXHAUSTED MODERN Exhausted Modern is the discomforting and thought-provoking alias of Ladislav Zensor, a Czech musician, DJ, and the head of the Endless llusion label. As his moniker suggests, Ladislav is mostly interested in dystopic sonic constructions that rely heavily on analog technology, industrial feel, the rawness of character, and digital magic in post. Lately, he's can be noticed playing a mix of Reggaeton and new school drill in addition to electro and UK techno.

_SPACETRILLIAN live Spacetrillian is Bratislava born Prague based uptempo addict and synthesizer witch. Spending almost every spare minute tweaking the knobs on her machines, she is continuously evolving and pushing the limits of her live performances. Inspired by everything from ambient to freetekno, her sets are a combination of fast heavy rhythms and atmospheric soundscapes.

_C4AT live Prague-born and Strahov-based, C4AT is a rising modular act, rooted in metal and operating in industrial techno music. He's heavily focused on analog equipment, on which his live acts are founded. He uses his equipment to craft out odd sounds and rhythms that aim to drive one's mind wild.

_ARNII The driving force behind FUCHS2 dramaturgical revival, creative brain behind ever changing ONYX club nights, and radio host /sonic explorer at Radio Punctum. ARNI, Georgia-born, is based in Prague for almost a decade now. He is a hands-on curator and DJ playing anything from UK infused techno, bass, neo-grime, and experimental dance music to juke, footwork, and dubstep.

_OBSTRUKCIA Bratislava-born freshman, heavy bass-addict and ONYX resident DJ. Coming up from the ecstatic crowds of legendary Subclub he started his ventures through contemporary dance music heavily influenced by now-vintage sound of Slovakian techno. Over the years, progressing through many genres, his sets developed into a tightly curated blend of heaving punching old school techno dancefloor belters mixed with contemporary experimental bass-heavy club music inspired by genres such as dubstep, jungle, grime and phonk. Cutting the edge on every occasion.

_SERVICEBOT Servicebot fka Kadaver - the proof that while machines might not be able to love, they can most certainly hate. Herna CEO the crowd as a human shield – expect choking on x-rated elektro, getting lost in tripped out psychedelic detours, and an excursion to the bleaker corners of techno. Submission has never felt so good.
