Lunchmeat presents: Gabber Modus Operandi, Raja Kirik, DJ Bingo & Mother Criminal

On Tuesday 3rd of May SALO — Prague’s newest dancefloor — will host an unexpected club night from the Lunchmeat Festival house: the modernised Indonesian electronic drum magik duo Gabber Modus Operandi will test the custom-built sound system in a 200 bpm+ deluge of gabber, footwork, and sweat-inducing mayhem. They'll be joined by the equally intriguing Javanese duo Raja Kirik, whose recent album ‘Rampokan’ draws inspiration from magic, shamanism, and animism infusing black metal flavors with the crushing electronic pressure of Dutch hardstyle. Opening and closing the night will be in hands of Bucolica festival founder Mother Criminal and BCAA’s very own DJ Bingo, who was recently adorned with the title of Vinyla and Bastl Instrument’s best Czech newcomer and will premiere his LIVE act at SALO.

G̾a̾b̾b̾e̾r̾ ̾M̾o̾d̾u̾s̾ ̾O̾p̾e̾r̾a̾n̾d̾i̾

Gabber Modus Operandi is the musical lovechild of DJ Kasimyn and MC HAREM ICAN. The duo combines dark gabber and footwork with ‘funkot’ percussion and ritualistic ‘jathilan’ — a trance-inducing dance and musical heritage from the richly unique cultural melting pot of Indonesia. GMO’s fusion of ‘the sacred, the stupid, and the fun’ promises to echo in the ears of Prague’s clubbers for a long time to come: this volcanic 200-bpm whirlwind of unusual combinations has already left famed venues such as Berghain in smoldering ashes.

Raja Kirik, a project by Yennu Ariendra and J. Mo'ong Santoso Pribadi, is a venture through traditional trance dances such as reog, jaranan, and jathilan – practices from East and central Java, Indonesia. The dances draw on magic, shamanism, and animism to explore a history that is at times dark, chaotic, violent, and unjust, with roots in social and colonial liberation. Such traditions have long served the people and their efforts at cultural resistance and are still relevant in political struggles today. Raja Kirik played their EU debut at Berghain to an enthused audience during CTM Festival 2020. They have two albums on Yes No Wave and Nyege Nyege Tapes to their acclaim.

DJ Bingo is a Prague-based producer and DJ. Oscillating between soft cute melodies and epic EDM basslines, his contrasting approach to music has appeared on compilations by BCAA System, Unizone, Soft, and Swine World. His debut EP was released on BCAA System in 2021. This year, he has returned with his latest release, “echoes of some distant now”, and won the very first edition of Bastl Instruments’ and Vinyla’s Best Electronic track competition, which searched for the best new electronic sounds and acts in the Czech Republic. He will premiere his LIVE act at SALO.

M̾o̾t̾h̾e̾r̾ ̾C̾r̾i̾m̾i̾n̾a̾l̾

Mother Criminal is the moniker of Tomáš Suchánek — Prague based DJ, promoter, director, writer, and founder of Bucolica, an annual rave and festival based in Přelouč, CZ. His field of expertise lies both in audiovisual media and music. During his DJ sets, his selection follows the trajectory of a missile cutting space and time from hardcore to experimental and back, inducing an eclectic but coherent and liberating rave atmosphere.
